Going Green with Goff's

Going Green with Goff's Vinyl Partitioning Systems

With energy costs on the rise and at the forefront of businesses minds, "Going Green" is more than just a corporate mantra of benevolence these days. Crude oil has now topped $120 a barrel compared to the 2007 average of $72 and electric prices between '07-'09 are expected to increase by 6.5%. It's no wonder businesses are turning over every stone in an attempt to improve on their energy eating ways.

Economical Flexible Solutions

Goff's Enterprises, a manufacturer of flexible curtains, doors and screen products for commercial facilities, based out of Pewaukee, WI has been innovating economical solutions for energy problems since 1987. Goff's High Speed Vinyl Roll-up door used on inner or exterior doorways can stop masses of climate controlled air from escaping like imaginary dollar bills blowing out the door. In fact, a comparison study was performed using a normal 14' x 14' sectional overhead door with a travel speed of 3" per second against a 14' x 14' vinyl roll up door with a travel speed of 36" per second. The study showed that with a 20 degree temperature differential between adjacent areas, the Goff door that travels at 36" per second could show savings of $0.50 PER USE, using current energy costs. 4 Goff doors that are used 10 times per day in this comparison would save an estimated $5200.00 in energy annually; this is in addition to the increased efficiencies found in not having to wait for slow moving traditional doors.

Ed Cooke, V.P. of Sales & Marketing for the Wisconsin manufacturer says "With the increase in energy costs and the desire of businesses to make less of an impact on the environment, we've seen a steady increase in demand for products that can help save on energy."

Plant Climate Control

Other simple ways to save the bottom line, while saving the planet are installing Goff's Curtain Walls to block unused areas of your facility to stop unneeded heat or air-conditioning from reaching that area or using Goff's Bug Blocking Mesh Doors to save money in air-conditioning costs by letting fresh cool air in, while keeping pests out. On the flip-side, the 65% "Shade-screen factor" offered by these mesh curtain doors will keep productivity up while keeping non-air-conditioned plant space cooler, longer too. Any of Goff's high speed roll up doors can be actuated in a multitude of ways including RF remote controls that make it easy for forklift traffic to push the button and keep moving.

Step by Step Improvement

As the old adage goes, "How do you eat an elephant?" "One spoonful at a time!" And that is exactly how businesses are beginning to "Go green" - By implementing one small change at a time. Adjustments like these may not seem big; however the savings (and footprint on the planet) will start to add up.
